Using the Point of Sale System

Home / Case Studies /

The Problem

Our client sold Point-of-Sale components (touch-screens, etc.) to OEM manufacturers, who integrated the components into POS cash registers.

Our clients had no direct contact with end-users. However, they needed to provide a training solution that OEM manufacturers could pass on to their customers’ end-users, who were retail clerks and supervisors.

Because of high turnover in the retail environment, there was an ongoing need for new-hire training and refresher training on POS equipment.

Some end-users were likely to have poor reading or English Language skills.

Prometheus Approach/Solution

We collaborated with our client’s Marketing Department to identify a workable solution that would support OEMs in supporting their end-users.

We worked from the existing technical documentation that was provided to OEMs to pass on to their customers.

We created a series of highly-graphic, On-the-Job Training Guides that could be used in one-on-one training or as self-study refresher training. The OJT Guides used minimal words, relying on pictures to explain the “how to” of using the POS equipment.

We also created product labels that were attached to the product itself, to support the ease-of-use of this product.
