Looking at Performance Problems
As consultants, our goal is to help organizations look at performance problems clearly. We know how to dig a little deeper, ask the tough questions and probe beyond the symptoms to determine the root causes of a problem. From there we can move forward, working with our clients to choose cost-effective solutions that are aligned with organizational goals.
Our approach is focused on achieving bottom-line results for our clients. To achieve these results, we draw from our experience in a variety of disciplines, including:
- Human performance technology
- Workplace Learning
- Instructional design
- Reengineering and process management
- Quality
- Financial/business management
- Project management
- Communications design
- Interactive distance learning
Performance Improvement Model
We follow a systematic process to identify and resolve Human Performance problems.
We partner with our clients to handle some or all of the process phases.
Phase 1: Partnering
- Setting project goals
- Identifying roles and responsibilities
- Defining what "success" will look like for this project
Phase 2: Assessment
- Deriving performance models (for new or redesigned jobs)
- Analyzing performance gaps and their root causes (when current performance is below expectation)
Phase 3: Intervention
- Selecting and designing an appropriate intervention, based on assessment data, to resolve the performance problem
- Intervention may be learning-based on non learning-based
- Learning interventions may involve education, training, or tutorials
- Non-learning interventions may involve work environment adjustment, motivational programs, or performance support systems
Phase 4: Evaluation
- Assessing the success of the intervention in attaining goals
- Goals may include Performance Improvement goals as well as broader business goals
